SEND
SEND at Cullingworth Primary
At Cullingworth Village Primary School every child is considered an individual and we believe that every pupil with special educational needs and/or a disability has an entitlement to fulfil their maximum potential.
We promote the ethos of Quality First Teaching within school, to adapt to and meet learning needs. Adaptive teaching is used to support all learners. Where barriers are identified, we follow the process of the Assess-Plan-Do-Review graduated approach, alongside parents/carers, to determine next steps for pupils.
The 4 Areas of Need
If your child has been identified as having SEND, their needs will fall into one of the 4 areas. One of the areas will be defined as their main area of need. It is important to note that needs can overlapping the 4 areas too.
The 4 primary areas:
- communication and interaction,
- cognition and learning,
- social, emotional and mental health,
- sensory and physical needs.
